Sustainability is no longer a trend: it is a market requirement. More and more companies are demanding eco-friendly stands, and more and more trade fairs are implementing regulations that limit the use of non-recyclable materials. Here we explain which materials are leading the change and why adopting them goes beyond corporate responsibility.
Certified and recycled wood
FSC- and PEFC-certified wood guarantees responsible forest management. Technically recovered woods — which reuse material from previous stands or demolitions — combine sustainability with unique aesthetic character. Both options perform structurally as well as conventional wood and are fully recyclable at the end of their useful life.
Recycled and anodised aluminium
Aluminium is one of the most recycled materials in the world: recycling it consumes 95% less energy than producing it from scratch. Anodised aluminium profiles are lightweight, durable and can be reused in multiple stand configurations. They are ideal for modular structures.
Recycled-fibre textiles
Printed fabric panels made from recycled PET bottles offer high print quality, light weight and a significantly reduced environmental footprint compared to rigid PVC panels. They are also easy to transport and store.
Water-based and low-VOC inks
Printing inks are one of the most polluting elements in traditional stand construction. Water-based and UV-cured inks reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and make printed materials easier to recycle at end of use.
Modularity as the ultimate sustainable strategy
Beyond the choice of materials, the most sustainable decision is to design a stand that can be reused. A modular stand that adapts to different spaces and configurations avoids the need to build from scratch at each fair, reducing material consumption, transport and associated emissions by up to 70%.
Sustainability in stands is not a sacrifice of aesthetics or impact: it is a more intelligent design challenge. At Stand-Out, we have been working with sustainable materials for years and the results — both environmental and commercial — speak for themselves.
